Baysun Canyons and Sangardak Waterfall by Train

A weekend trip by night train to the red canyons of Baysun and the Sangardak waterfall in Surkhandarya.

The group travels from Tashkent by night train to Baysun, stays in a hotel and spends a full day exploring the area: the Omonkhona sanatorium, the Red Canyon, the Ship Canyon, the thousand-year-old plane trees of Sayrob, the Derbent Canyon with the Iron Gates of Baysun and a crafts centre.

In the evening there is dinner with a performance by a Baysun folklore ensemble, whose tradition is on the UNESCO intangible heritage list. On the next day the route crosses mountain passes to the Sangardak waterfall, with a walk along the gorge and lunch with Baysun plov in a mountain teahouse. The cable car runs in good weather. The group then travels to Denau and returns to Tashkent by night train, arriving on Monday morning.
