Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis
Mausoleum Complex · Samarkand

Shah-i-Zinda, "the Living King", is an avenue of blue-tiled mausoleums built between the 11th and 15th centuries and the burial ground of descendants of Hazrat Ali. Every mausoleum has its own colours and patterns, so the further you walk, the harder it is to look away. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the early morning light the tiles glow especially brightly, making it a paradise for photographers. It is easy to spend hours here.
