Winter Urungach: Hike to the Frozen Jade Lake

A one-day winter hike from Tashkent to the frozen Upper Jade Lake of Urungach in the Chatkal Range, with a 4x4 transfer and a photo session.

In winter the Jade Lakes of Urungach turn into an icy world: instead of emerald water there is a frozen lake surface surrounded by snowy mountains. The group drives from Tashkent to the Karabulak post, switches to 4x4 Niva vehicles (4-5 people each) and continues up a mountain road to the Lower Jade Lake, where the hike begins.

The walking route to the frozen Upper Jade Lake is 1.2 km with an elevation gain of 800 m. At the lake there is time for a photo session and a rest among the mountains. Access to the ice and the time spent at the lake depend on the weather, ice condition and safety. The return to Tashkent is expected around 20:00.

The hike is not for small children; teenagers aged 12-14 and over can join if they are physically fit. Warm trekking boots with non-slip soles are required, city sneakers are not suitable. The price is 650,000 UZS and the tour is non-refundable.
