In a single evening, the lecturer will try to put together an overall picture of three thousand years of history — from ancient Sogdiana and Bactria to the empires of Genghis Khan and Timur. In the following lectures of the series, individual eras and topics will be examined in more detail. No special knowledge of history is required; there will be maps and illustrations.
Participants will learn about:
• conquests and rulers;
• nomads and cities;
• the Silk Road;
• religion and scientific discoveries;
• how Central Asia changed over the centuries.
Participation fee: 100,000 soums.
