Winemaking arrived in the 19th century with the Russian army, and the tradition has continued at the Khovrenko winery for 150 years. Samarkand grapes are among the sweetest in Uzbekistan. The winery tour takes in old cellars, wooden barrels and local wine varieties, and there is a tasting hall. Many people don't know Uzbekistan has wineries — a unique experience.
