Bolo Hauz Mosque
Mosque · Bukhara

Built in 1712 opposite the Ark, the “mosque of mirrors” served as the emir's official Friday mosque. Twenty unique carved wooden columns support the iwan, and their reflection in the water creates a “mirror” effect. A photo taken from beside the pool is one of the most famous shots in Bukhara. It still functions as an active mosque. Visit in daylight to admire the columns and the painted ceiling.
