Nadir Divan-Begi Madrasah

Built in 1622, this unique madrasah has two legendary Humo birds depicted on its portal, a rare sight given that images of living creatures seldom appear in Islamic architecture. It stands on the northern side of the Lyabi-Hauz ensemble; today it houses craft shops, and in the evening folk dance and fashion shows are staged inside. Its outer portal is one of the most photographed walls in Bukhara.
