Magoki Attori Mosque
Mosque / Museum · Bukhara

The name means “mosque of the herbalists in the pit”: over the centuries it was buried under layers of earth and now sits below ground level. A Zoroastrian temple once stood on this site and was later converted into a mosque, which is why this is a unique place where Bukharan Jews were also allowed to pray. Its terracotta portal deserves special attention. Inside are a small carpet museum and a souvenir shop.
