Mir-i-Arab Madrasah
Madrasah · Bukhara

Standing on the eastern side of Poi Kalon Square, this religious school was built in the 1530s and still operates today; it was one of the few madrasahs that stayed open even in the Soviet era. It is distinguished by its two blue domes and ornate portal. Visitors may not enter the inner courtyard with the students' cells, but the outer façade and portal are among the most photogenic parts of the Poi Kalon ensemble.
